Trump Survives Assassination Attempt, Shooter Neutralized at Rally

During a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a gunman tried to assassinate President Donald Trump.

During President Trump’s speech at the rally, multiple shots rang out. Fox News is reporting that there are unconfirmed reports the rifle used was an AR-15. The former President and current front-runner grabbed his right ear as United States Secret Service Officers jumped on top of him. The mic picked up a Secret Service agent saying that the former President was hit. Secret Service got Trump to his feet, where a bloodied Trump raised his fist in defiance. Secret Service then evacuated Trump from the scene.

Local police and the Secret Service took out the shooter, who was on top of a building outside the grounds about 200 yards away. The shooter was shot and killed. Another rally attendee was hit by a shot and died. Two other people at the rally were taken away by stretcher, but it is still unclear if any of the expended rounds struck them.

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger was amazed that the shooter got to the location he did. He stated that they are going to have to review exactly how the security lapse happened.

“[The shooter] was outside of the grounds, so to speak,” Mr. Goldinger said. “Quite frankly, I don’t know how he would have gotten to the location where he was outside the grounds. I think that’s something that we’re going to have to figure out.”

Trump, shortly after, released a statement stating that he was fine. A doctor reviewed the footage for AmmoLand News and said it looked like the President was hit in the Helix of the right ear. Law enforcement locked down the area and searched for any other shooter, but none were found. A source on the ground reported that the shooter appeared to be a white male. Police have not released the shooter’s identity at the time of writing.

No motive has been released, but the left has ratcheted up its rhetoric against Trump since he started to pull away from President Joe Biden in the polls after signs of mental decline from the current White House officeholder. One recent post by the Biden campaign said the time for debate is over. It is time to put a “bullseye” on Trump.

Others have called Trump a fascist and pushed a narrative that he is a danger to democracy. The New Republic put Trump on its cover with a Hitler mustache photoshopped on the former President. Many wonder if the coverage of Trump has driven unstable individuals to violence.

Even though the Biden campaign has been the source of a lot of anti-Trump rhetoric, the White House released a statement that sent thoughts and prayers to the former President.

“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania,” Biden said. “I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.”

“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety,” Biden continued. “There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

President Trump would take to Truth Social late Saturday to thank the Secret Service and local law enforcement for their quick action. He stated that nothing is known about the shooter at this time.

“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

This situation is a breaking story, and AmmoLand News will continue to follow it for the latest updates.
