Beto Demands Violence Monopoly at School where Government Shot Student Protesters

Beto convinces starry-eyed, logic-impaired students that government shooting unarmed students is why the government should control the guns (Beto O’Rourke/Facebook)

U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Yesterday, people brought assault weapons to our rally at Kent State—where 4 students were shot dead in 1970,” Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke tweeted Thursday. “I told them nobody should show up with an AK-47 or an AR-15 to seek to intimidate us in our own democracy. We need to buy back every single one of them.”

Let’s break his complaints down in the order he presents them.

It’s true. No matter how hard KSU administrators try to weasel-word that “it is the policy of the university to prohibit the possession, storage, or use of a deadly weapon in certain circumstances on university property,” the “out” for visitors is “unless otherwise permitted by state law.”

Ohio law allows “officials” to impose total infringements on students and employees and against concealed-carry if so dictated by a college’s board of trustees. But open carry by visitors on “public property” is “legal,” creating an unequal protection situation that should rightly be considered intolerable.

I observed and reported on Liberty Hangout’s Kent State open-carry walk a year ago, and unsurprisingly, armed protestors there to champion the right of the people to keep and bear arms conducted themselves peaceably and invited “reasoned discourse.”  Those who made that impossible by physically blocking the progress of the march, screaming insults to include sexual and homophobic put-downs and overt racism, and by threatening and committing acts of violence requiring multiple arrests, were all on the side of citizen disarmament and a government “monopoly of violence.” That’s curious considering some self-identified as Antifa, which fraudulently represents itself as being “anarchist” instead of totalitarian.

That brings us back to Beto, and his “brilliant” observation about the four students shot dead. Four unarmed students. By government troops.

That’s a hell of a way to make your point that only the government should be armed.

As with the earlier open carry walk, leave it to a professional liar to accuse Bill of Rights advocates of being there to intimidate, although they were there to make a point of defiance. But that’s only after a man who would be president emphasized his intent to ignore the “supreme Law of the Land” and use that government monopoly to bend them to his will and strip them of their birthrights. And as for the ubiquitous reference to “our democracy” collectivist poltroons like Beto invariably fall back on, we’ve seen what can happen when a majority unrestrained by unalienable individual rights decides what to have for dinner.

Beto’s “buying back” threat presupposes the guns were his in the first place, and that the transfer was made with a mutually agreed-upon reclamation clause. In the absence of that, refusal to play along will result in that monopoly of violence being deployed again, and those the shock troops don’t kill, as they did at Kent State, will be imprisoned and have their lives destroyed, as was done to Wayne Fincher.

As an aside, this really doesn’t fit the flow here but it is an opportunity for more gun owners to learn about another piece of Beto-related hypocrisy. These lottery-winning useful idiot stage props, who wantonly violate “gun laws” every episode of “Stupornatural,” really ought to hear from more viewers about what dolts they are without a script.

Does it strike anyone else as cognitively dissonant that, for a supposed “progressive man of the people,” Beto and his ilk utterly reject what the Founders knew to be the ultimate egalitarian power-sharing arrangement? And that brings us to another offensive and absurd claim that tells us all we need to know about how budding tyrant wannabes like him will try to wield real power should they ever swindle their way into it:

Kamala Harris Holds Gun Control Forum Without Firearms Experts

Kamala Harris
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) has been talking gun control since beginning her campaign. She is shown here during a town hall event hosted by CNN.

U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- Suppose you appeared at a “roundtable discussion” on guns, but nobody from the firearms community was apparently invited.

That’s what presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) did in Seattle. According to a report in the University of Washington DAILY, she sat with anti-gun Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, March for Our Lives representative Thomas Köhnlein, Democrat State Rep. Kristine Reeves, Robin Little Wing Sigo of the Suquamish Tribe and David Z. Bean from the Puyallup Tribe.

Notably absent was anyone from the National Rifle Association, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, any firearms retailers, range operators or certified firearms instructors.

Harris, on a campaign/fund raising visit to what many conservatives have called the “Seattle ATM” machine for liberal Democrats, reiterated her vow to take executive action on guns if elected president. She would give Congress 100 days to come up with a “reasonable” gun control plan and if that didn’t happen, she would ban the importation of so-called “assault weapons.”

But is that disingenuous? Several companies based in the United States manufacture the kinds of semi-auto modern sporting rifles Harris is talking about, namely guns built on the AR platform.
Harris told the audience that Congressional leaders have “failed to have the courage to say, hey fine if you want to go hunting, but we need reasonable gun safety laws in this country including universal background checks and a renewal of the assault weapons ban.”

Leaders in the Second Amendment community who were at the recent Gun Rights Policy Conference in Phoenix would remind Harris that the right to keep and bear arms isn’t about hunting.

Later, Harris talked about background checks, explaining that they are necessary to prevent dangerous people from buying firearms. Without anyone from the firearms community present to explain that criminals don’t get their guns legally in the first place, that side of the discussion was not heard.

The conversation got around to blaming the “current occupant of the White House” for fanning the fuel of hate crimes, with Harris reminding the audience that she is running to become the next occupant.

As the “roundtable,” which seemed to be about half-round in makeup, was coming to an end, Harris tried to paraphrase the late Coretta Scott King by observing, “The fight for civil rights must be fought and won with each generation.”

Apparently that only applies to certain rights, the least of which in Harris’ mind appears to be the right to keep and bear arms, enumerated in the U.S. Constitution and in most state constitutions.

And there was something else worthy of note. It was how local news agencies reported the event. While KCPQ, the local Fox News affiliate, and KING, the local NBC affiliate, both identified the event as a ‘gun control” forum, KOMO, the local ABC affiliate, reported Harris “was in Seattle participating in the ‘Seattle Gun Safety Roundtable’ on Friday. Harris has made gun safety a core component of her campaign.”

Coincidentally, just days after using this roundtable to call for a ban on so-called “assault weapons,” the FBI Uniform Crime Report for 2018 was released. In Washington State, where there has been a push to restrict ownership of semi-auto rifles and passage of an initiative that invented a definition of a “semiautomatic assault rifle,” the FBI reports that only two of the state’s reported 232 homicides was knowingly committed with a rifle of any kind. Five more involved shotguns. Seventy-six of the state’s 138 gun-related slayings were known to have been committed with handguns, while 55 were committed with unknown or unidentified firearms.

Know the Difference Between the Achievable and the Ideal

New York – -(AmmoLand.com)- If there is one issue that tends to cause the most divisions amongst Second Amendment supporters, it is disagreement over the tactics and strategy used to defend our right to keep and bear arms. The NRA takes one approach, GOA takes another, we see still others from the Firearms Policy Coalition, Second Amendment Foundation, and the pro-Second Amendment groups at the state level.

Why is this? Because while Second Amendment supporters generally are in agreement about the ideal situation they’d like to see regarding our rights, there is often a fight over what is actually achievable at a given point in time. One group might want to push for sweeping changes, while another would prefer a more incremental approach. They may even disagree on what the priority should be – one group may want to roll back oppressive legislation on carrying guns, another would ask lawmakers to address the threat of financial blacklisting.

Take, for instance, the Gun Control Act of 1968. The problem was, at the time, with the relatively recent assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by a pair of evil individuals, something was going to pass. President Lyndon Baines Johnson was pushing for a licensing and registration scheme.

We’ve seen in places like England and Australia how licensing and registration became the building blocks for confiscation. That was obvious also to many back then, including the NRA, which had opposed restrictive legislation, albeit on a more ad hoc basis than it did after the Revolt in Cincinnati. What happened was the NRA used its relationships on Capitol Hill to make sure that the licensing and registration didn’t pass.

When Franklin Orth said that the 1968 law was something sportsmen could live with, it was not because they liked seeing restrictions imposed on them for misdeeds they had nothing to do with. It was because it was far less onerous than what LBJ wanted to inflict upon them. And LBJ was very unhappy about the fact he didn’t get licensing and registration.

Ideally, whatever laws had been passed would not have placed any limits on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. But the ideal was not achievable. What can be achieved over the medium term? A great reduction in the controls, leaving in place laws that punish the misuse of Second Amendment rights.

Similarly, many would argue that the ideal situation for carrying firearms for personal protection is constitutional carry in all 50 states. In terms of carrying firearms for personal protection, we’ve gotten much closer to that ideal than we were years ago. It’s been a process of slicing away at the infringements, piece by piece, but the progress is undeniable.

Similarly, most Second Amendment supporters don’t think a constitutional right should be subject to things like getting a license, going through a background check, or some arbitrary waiting period. However, the present situation is far from it. But what can we realistically expect to achieve in this regard?

Here is the hard truth for some: Until January of 2021, there isn’t much that can be done to address the licensing schemes of states like New Jersey, California, and New York. On that day there may be pro-Second Amendment majorities in the House and Senate that could introduce legislation to have NICS override those schemes, to hopefully be signed by a re-elected President Trump. Yeah, NICS is not a good option, but such a change would have made a huge difference to someone like Carol Bowne, and many others who have their Second Amendment rights impacted by the clearly unconstitutional licensing schemes.

Even if we get the ideal laws and court ruling, Second Amendment supports may have to address new threats. These will come from not from politicians, but from corporate boardrooms and cubicles in Silicon Valley. Those will require new strategies and tactics.

Second Amendment supporters face a balancing act. We must try to achieve the ultimate objective, one that creates the ideal situation with regards to our Second Amendment right. At the same time, we need to be realistic, and get what we can in the climate we have today. This is not compromising or being a “Fudd,” it’s about getting the best possible result we can today, while striving for a better tomorrow.

Home Invasion Stopped with AR-15 (Ruger AR 556) – VIDEO

Home Invasion Stopped with AR-15 (Ruger AR 556) video
Home Invasion Stopped with AR-15 (Ruger AR 556) video

U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- On August 12, 2019, at about 9:52 p.m., in Omaha, Nebraska, an apartment resident named Mark had some friends visiting him. He heard persistent knocking at the door. It got louder, so he looked out the peephole. Outside, he saw an unknown man at the door with another behind him who had a mask on.

He locked the door and went to get his rifle, a Ruger AR 556 (AR-15 clone). In the video, just as he returns, the door is kicked in with a rear spear type kick. As the home invader turns around, he sees the rifle pointed at him, and flees, all in less than two seconds, according to the camera clock.

John Correia, of Active Self Protection, does a running commentary on the lessons learned from this encounter, on one of his videos. John interviewed Mark, which is where we were able to obtain details such as police response, lack of media coverage, and Marks mental process. Mark and his friends were not engaged in any illegal activity, nor did they know or recognize the home invaders.

Several things stand out. The first is Mark used the peephole to discover something was wrong, rather than opening the door.  That allowed him to lock the door as well as to retrieve his rifle. He had situational awareness. On the video, it took Mark 22 seconds to retrieve the rifle and return. Mark has some cover from the closet on the left of the screen.

The reaction of the invaders shows one of the primary values of the AR-15 type system: easy recognition leading to effective deterrence.

Mark did a good job. He was aware. He had an effective self-defense tool easily available and knew how to use it. In my opinion, Mark would have been justified in shooting the home invader. Mark reports to John he did not see any weapons, so he made the split-second decision not to shoot.

It worked well in this case.  If he had been further from the door, he might have had a bit more time to make the decision.

There was no news coverage of this defensive use of the AR-15 type rifle. Mark reported the incident to police.  We are told they arrived in five minutes. They took a report. No arrests have been reported.

A simple police report will not show up as a defensive gun use (DGU)  in the FBI Uniform Crime Reports (UCR). The FBI UCR does not have a category for defensive gun uses. They have a category for justified homicides. It only catches about 20% of justified homicides. Justified homicides are a tiny fraction of defensive gun uses.

The vast majority of defensive gun uses are not reported or recorded in the media.

Several surveys show defensive gun uses of between 500,000 and three million a year, according to the Center for Disease Control.

Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million (Kleck, 2001a), in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008 (BJS, 2010).

Only a few thousand are reported in the media each year.  My experience as an instructor and member of the gun culture for 60 years, is most defensive gun uses are not reported to police; a very small subset of dgu reported to the police are recorded in the media. Most of the dgu recorded in the media are in small, local markets. It is very rare for a dgu incident to make national news. The lack of reporting skews how people think about the issue. In many markets, people think dgu are rare.

In the video, after having stopped the violent home invasion, Mark goes into the hall. Later his friend goes even further.  Mark is careful not to point the muzzle at his friend.

Mark and his friend may have exposed themselves more than necessary. They stopped the threat before they went into the hall.

This is a timely example of a common defensive use of an AR-15 type rifle. It refutes the current propaganda that such rifles are not useful for the defense of self and others.

Easy Sound Bites or Real Safety – Notes from the 2019 Gun Rights Policy Conference

Easy Sound Bites or Real Safety – Notes from the 2019 Gun Rights Policy Conference

U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- It takes more than virtue signaling to make us safer. That is the message I took away from the 2019 Gun Rights Policy Conference. I met the people who are doing the real work of making us safer at home, at our offices, and in our schools. They live with the real-world problems that go far beyond 144 character solutions and political press-releases. I came away with hope, but progress isn’t easy.

We live in an imperfect world. Crime and accidents are real. Mental illness is real, and our laws are deeply flawed. The great news is that people can have an episode of mental illness and get better. Quoting Michael Sodini of Walk the Talk America,

“We don’t say, watch out for George, he is on his meds. We say watch out for George because he’s off his meds.”

Life is hard. People suffer through loss and addiction.. and they heal. We talk about the horrible mass murders we’ve seen in the news but we ignore the much larger number of suicides that happen every day. The mental health community is only starting to figure out armed america. Here are some of the real-world problems we face.

  • Your friend is having some emotional problems. He wants his doctor to adjust the dosage on his medications. While he and his doctor are sorting that out, your friend wants you to hold his firearms for him. In your state, the legislature deliberately confused temporary possession of a firearm with ownership of the gun. You can’t help keep your friend safe without buying his guns and transferring them through a gun shop. You both commit a felony if your friend hands you his guns. Would you break the law to help your friend stay safe?
  • Your neighbor was attacked by a stalker and filed a police report. Unfortunately, due to mandatory background check laws, you can’t loan her a firearm for self-defense. To make the situation worse, her stalker can submit an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) and demand that your neighbor undergo a psychiatric exam. Many victims of sexual abuse show post-traumatic stress. Due to red-flag-gun-laws, the court orders your neighbor to be disarmed. Would you break the law to help your neighbor protect herself?
  • Your friends have to move out of their house for a few days while the house is fumigated and repaired. They want to bring some of their firearms to your house for safe storage. Mandatory background check laws require that all of you go to a gun shop, conduct background checks even though you already have lots of guns, and then pay for the transfer of every firearm. Your friends decide to leave their guns at home in a locked closet. Does that make us safer or leave us in greater danger that their guns will be stolen while their home is open to strangers?
  • You were involved in a car accident and you’re on pain meds. Because of the medications, lack of sleep, and the nagging pain, you know you aren’t thinking clearly. You want your friends to hold your firearms until you’re better. Since you can’t go to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) to make the exchange, both you and your friends become felons as your friends remove the guns from your house and store them at a gun shop.

Life is more complex than press-release-sound-bites about gun-control. The good news is that we’re slowly recognizing the problem of mental health. Responsible gun owners are building their own solutions to keep themselves, their families, and their friends safe.

In time, the law will catch up to the reality of armed america. Until then, it is up to us to look out for each other. Do the right thing and reach out to a friend.

More about GRPC in later posts. Please stay safe.

Intruder Likely Shot In Home-Invasion Robbery That Left AR Man Dead

Bob Irwin highlights the latest self-defense and other shootings of the week. Read them and see what went wrong, what went right, and what we can learn from self-defense with a gun.

Police Lights and Crime Tape
Intruder Likely Shot In Home-Invasion Robbery That Left AR Man Dead

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- The Sentinel-Record (Grace Brown) reports 07-24-19 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, a resident was fatally shot during an apparent home invasion in the 200 block of Portland Street.

A news release by the Hot Springs Police Department says the 23-year-old victim was shot in his home during an apparent robbery by two male assailants. Police described one of the robbers as standing roughly 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a medium build and twisted dreadlocks. The other robber stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall and has a slender build. Both assailants are believed to be in their early 20s or younger. Friends and family are offering a $1,500 reward for information that results in arrests and convictions.

Detective Scott Lampinen said investigators are also encouraging the public to recall anything that might help police locate a suspect.

“We don’t know if these guys are local or from out of town,” he said. “We’re basically just trying to jog anybody’s memory about somebody that maybe had an injury that is not consistent with maybe a story that they were being told.”

Investigators found blood at the scene that didn’t match the victim’s, suggesting that one of the intruders had also been shot.

Comments:

Another tragedy of senseless street crime. The issue involved here is training and practice. Having a firearm is not enough; you need to be able to deploy it quickly and accurately!

Law-abiding citizens must get training and practice, practice, practice. Instruction is available all over the internet. Get together with your untrained neighbors, have everybody chip in for a membership, join the NRA, and share the knowledge.

If live fire training is out of reach (financially or physically) buy a cheap laser pointer and tape it to your gun, so it points where the sights point.

With the UNLOADED firearm, point it around the room, put it down and pick it up over and over. Then you will be able to shoot relatively straight in the dark.

Find a friend who hunts, go out with them to learn safety procedures, loading and unloading, and practice firing your rifle or handgun. Don’t be a first-time shooter when your life is on the line.

Member Spotlight: Meet the Woman Who Took on Beto O’Rourke ~ VIDEO

Opinion

Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- A Colorado woman challenged Beto O’Rourke’s gun confiscation plan at a town hall last week and the video went viral. Lauren Boebert’s interaction with the presidential candidate was viewed more than 5 million times on NRA social media and was shared 190,000 times. Boebert was even featured on national news. The NRA sat down with Boebert for a Q&A. Here’s what she had to say.

Q. Millions of Americans watched you take on Beto O’Rourke at his gun control rally in Colorado. How did that come about?

A. In Colorado, our Second Amendment rights have been hit hard in the last decade. Politicians have been shaving off pieces of our Second Amendment with knee jerk reactions any time they can find an excuse to restrict us. When I heard Beto was coming to my state to push for more gun control, I knew I had to speak up.

Q. Were you scared?

A. Not scared, but intimidated because I was surrounded by people who disagreed with me. There were a couple of hundred people who didn’t want me there. But I had to put those fears aside, because who am I to lose that opportunity to speak on behalf of millions of Americans everywhere?

Q. What advice do you have for others who want to speak out in support of the Second Amendment?

A. It starts at home, in your community, and with the people you have relationships with. We must educate those around us and teach them that a firearm is for self-defense and protection.

Q. How did you go from growing-up in a gun-free home to being a passionate gun rights advocate?

A. A man was beat to death in the alley behind our restaurant, and I wondered how I would defend my employees if something like that were to happen to one of them. I knew we could not be defenseless.

Q. Final thoughts on what it takes to be a Second Amendment activist?

A. We are the silent majority and because we are so silent, it seems like we are the minority. It's time that we rise up and speak up, we need to be heard. We’re not going to let Beto O’Rourke tell us how to defend ourselves. If politicians are so concerned with gun control, they need to start with the criminals. If they can make their gun control schemes work in Chicago, then maybe, we’ll listen. But we already know they’ve failed. Let Beto start his gun buy back scheme with criminals, then come talk to us.

NRA Statement on Politically Motivated Senate Finance Report
NRA Statement on Politically Motivated Senate Finance Report

Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)-

The National Rifle Association released the following statements on Friday regarding the politically motivated report issued by Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee:

William A. Brewer III, counsel to the NRA: “This report promotes a politically motivated and contrived narrative. An avalanche of proof confirms that the NRA, as an organization, was never involved in the activities about which the Democrats write. This report goes to great lengths to try to involve the NRA in activities of private individuals and create the false impression that the NRA did not act appropriately. Nothing could be further from the truth. As noted by the committee Republicans in their rebuttal, this report is a transparent effort to justify yet another ‘fishing expedition’ into the NRA.”

Andrew Arulanandam, NRA managing director of Public Affairs, speaking of a 2015 trip to Russia: “Certain NRA members made the trip of their own accord. The record reflects it was not an official NRA trip. NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre was opposed to it and, at his directive, no NRA staff members or employees attended.”

Joe Biden: Impeachment’s First Casualty

Opinion

Joe Biden
Joe Biden: Impeachment's First Casualty

USA-(Ammoland.com)- Even before seeing the transcript of the July 25. 2019, call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Nancy Pelosi threw the door wide open to the impeachment of Donald Trump by the Democratic House.

Though the transcript did not remotely justify the advanced billing of a “quid pro quo,” Pelosi set in motion a process that is already producing a sea change in the politics of 2020.

The great Beltway battle for the balance of this year, and perhaps next, will be over whether the Democrats can effect a coup against a president many of them have never recognized as legitimate and have sought to bring down since before he took the oath of office.

Pelosi on Tuesday started this rock rolling down the hill.

She has made impeachment, which did not even come up in the last Democratic debate, the issue of 2020. She has foreclosed bipartisan compromise on gun control.

As well as the cost of prescription drugs and infrastructure. She has just put her own and her party's fate and future on the line.

With Pelosi's assent that she is now open to impeachment, she turned what was becoming a cold case into a blazing issue. If the Democrats march up impeachment hill, fail and fall back, or if they vote impeachment only to see the Senate exonerate the president, that will be the climactic moment of Pelosi's career. She is betting the future of the House, and her party's hopes of capturing the presidency, on the belief she and her colleagues can persuade the country to support the indictment of a president for high crimes.

One wonders: Do Democrats blinded by hatred of Trump ever wonder how that 40% of the nation that sees him as the repository of their hopes will react if, rather than beat him at the ballot box, they remove him in this way?

The first casualty of Pelosi's cause is almost certain to be the front-runner for the party nomination. Joe Biden has already, this past week, fallen behind Sen. Elizabeth Warren in Iowa, New Hampshire and California. The Quinnipiac poll has her taking the lead nationally for the nomination, with Biden dropping into second place for the first time since he announced his candidacy.

By making Ukraine the focus of the impeachment drive in the House, Pelosi has also assured that the questionable conduct of Biden and son Hunter Biden will be front and center for the next four months before Iowa votes.

What did Joe do?

By his own admission, indeed his boast, as vice president he ordered then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to either fire the prosecutor who was investigating the company that hired Hunter Biden for $50,000 a month or forgo a $1 billion U.S. loan guarantee that Kiev needed to stay current on its debts.

Biden insists the Ukrainian prosecutor was corrupt, that Hunter had done no wrong, that he himself was unaware of his son's business ties.

All these assertions have been contradicted or challenged.

There is another question raised by Biden's ultimatum to Kiev to fire the corrupt prosecutor or forgo the loan guarantee. Why was the U.S. guaranteeing loans to a Kiev regime that had to be threatened by the U.S. with bankruptcy to get it to rid itself of a prosecutor whom all of Europe supposedly knew to be corrupt?

Whatever the truth of the charges, the problem here is that any investigation of potential corruption of Hunter Biden, and of the role of his father, the former vice president, in facilitating it, will be front and center in presidential politics between now and New Hampshire.

This is bad news for the Biden campaign. And the principal beneficiary of Pelosi's decision that put Joe and Hunter Biden at the center of an impeachment inquiry is, again, Warren.

Warren already appears to have emerged victorious in her battle with Bernie Sanders to become the progressives' first choice in 2020. And consider how, as she is rising, her remaining opposition is fast fading.

Sen. Kamala Harris has said she is moving her campaign to Iowa for a do-or-die stand in the first battleground state. Sen. Cory Booker has called on donors to raise $1.7 million in 10 days, or he will have to pack it in. As Biden, Sanders, Harris and Booker fade, and “Mayor Pete” Buttigieg hovers at 5 or 6% in national and state polls, Warren steadily emerges as the probable nominee.

One measure of how deeply Biden is in trouble, whether he is beginning to be seen as too risky, given the allegations against him and his son, will be the new endorsements his candidacy receives after this week of charges and countercharges.

If there is a significant falling off, it could be fatal.

Pistols & Bear Spray Stop Two Bear Attacks on Archery Hunters in Montana

Opinion

New Mexico Hunter Mauled in Bear Attack Montana 16 Sept photo released by hunter 600
New Mexico Hunter Mauled in Bear Attack Montana 16 Sept 2019 photo released by hunter.

Arizona -(Ammoland.com)- Two pairs of archery hunters were attacked by a grizzly bear or bears in Montana, in the Gravelly Mountains. The attacks occurred within 11 hours and one mile from each other.  Because of the proximity, it is suspected the same bear was involved in both attacks.

The attacks are remarkably similar with an interesting difference. In one, the hunters used bear spray. In the other, they used 9 mm handguns.  From mt.gov:

The first attack happened about 7:30 a.m. when two archery hunters from New Mexico were following elk tracks south of Cottonwood Creek, west of Black Butte. The two men said they were walking single file up a hill when they heard a noise. They both turned to see a bear charging toward them. The bear struck one of the men as the other was reaching for his bear spray. The man fell to his hands and knees, then the bear grabbed onto his backpack.

The other man deployed bear spray at the bear. When the spray reached the bear’s face, the bear let go of the first hunter and attacked the other hunter. The man continued spraying the bear’s face, and the bear eventually let go and left.

Both New Mexico hunters were injured, but they were able to walk back to their vehicle and make it to the hospital. According to Terri James of Shedhorn Sports, in Ennis, the New Mexico hunters had guns, but chose to use bear spray instead. From facebook:

Workin at Shedhorn today, a couple of guys came in just after the Grizzly attack! They had guns but said the bear spray is what finally did the trick!

Terri James said the hunter pictured had a bad gash to the back of his head, and the other hunter's injuries were in the groin area.

The second attack occurred eleven hours later, about a mile away. Again, there were two archery hunters. This time they were from the state of Washington. We know their names, Chris Gregersen and Donivan Campbell.  The attack was very similar to the previous attack. Donivan Campbell was grabbed before he could deploy a defensive weapon.

In this attack, the hunters chose to use 9mm pistols to drive off the bear. From kiro7.com:

“I heard the bear catch Donivan before I actually saw it,” he describes, “and it’s a scream I hope that I never have to hear ever again in my entire life.”

Donivan was on the ground when Gregersen reached him carrying a gun, pulling the trigger just in time.

“I could feel his mouth right behind my head,” Donivan said.

If Gregersen did not shoot, Donivan says he would have been killed.

“I would not be sitting here. I'm 100 percent convicted of that,” he said.

Gregersen says he saw the bear crawl across his friend as it tried to bite him. Donivan was pushing the bear’s face away when Gregersen approached and shot the bear, temporarily scaring it away.

The hunters say the bear kept coming back to attack.

“It charged again just as quickly as it did the first time,” Gregersen explains, “We have never seen an animal that was that furious, that was that terrifying.”

After shooting the bear multiple times, the friends were able to escape.

Chris Gregersen wrote they used 9 mm pistols to defend themselves. He was of the opinion bear spray would not have worked in their situation.  Officials conducted a search, but did not find the bear.

Gregerson has organized a gofundme account to help cover Donivan Campbell's medical bills and recovery. Donivan and his wife are expecting their first child in the next two months.

Eight days later, on the 24th of September, 2019, another hunter was attacked in the same area. He survived, but details are sparse at this time. From  billingsgazette.com:

After back-to-back grizzly bear attacks last week in the Gravelly Mountains, wildlife officials on Tuesday said that another individual survived an attack earlier Tuesday in the same region.

According to Fish Wildlife & Parks spokesperson Morgan Jacobsen the victim survived and was being treated in Sheridan, Montana, Tuesday afternoon. FWP is investigating the incident and Jacobsen could not provide any more information.

The media reports are emphasizing the effectiveness of bear spray, and mostly ignoring the effectiveness of 9 mm pistols. You have to search to determine pistols were used and effective.

If readers can find national media that are mentioning the defensive use of pistols in the attack on Campbell and Gregersen, please let us know in the commenst below.

Trump – Love Him Or Hate Him, the Alternative Will Destroy America

Opinion By Alan J Chwick & Joanne D Eisen

III% United Patriots
Trump – Love Him Or Hate Him, the Alternative Will Destroy America

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- One thing is sure! Gun laws don't work. Gun laws are counterproductive and even dangerous. We need to remain united on this point, as well as on the present political realities.

Our Constitution is in danger.

We are fighting irrational liars on two fronts. Our rabid US gun control crowd demand ever stronger firearms control, even as thousands of laws fail to achieve their promise of peace in our streets. And the UN crowd cannot even control their own regulations and weapons.

Nevertheless, these fronts continue to promise peace through disarmament. They are lying. They really want full civilian control through disarmament! Even though disarmament is unachievable in the present global context, the attempted path to it is socially destructive.

It was recently claimed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that, “Disarmament prevents and ends violence.” This is not true. This is baloney.

Reading between the lines, one can see the frustrating failure of their weapons control experts as they ask, What incentives and approaches exist to overcome current capacity and technical gaps?” Their past failures give them no expectation of future success.

Here in the US, for example, the restrictive Sullivan Act, passed in 1911 in NYS, with the intent of denying weapons to most NY citizens. Nearly a century later, reliable Justice Department estimates would suggest that New Yorkers owned as many as two million illegal black market firearms.

These weapons are mostly owned by both the criminal elements of NY City and local business people maintaining some form of balance of power.

Fairly accurate recent US civilian gun stock estimates hover at just under 400,000,000. [estimates]

We cannot be disarmed. Government agents would soon find that the task is beyond their capabilities. If there are to be civil disturbances, we will not be the losers.

It would undoubtedly be welcomed by weapons control freaks if they could gain control of all those weapons. But it would be more likely if those weapons simply fell off the grid.

We know that criminals and the mentally disturbed cannot be prevented from obtaining weapons, just as we cannot be separated from ours. All of those foreign and domestic enemies will fail to disarm us.

The black market takes care of that. And the black market does not create lists of weapons owners. These lists have often been used to criminalize classes of weapons, and then confiscate them at the whim of the day.

The black market is always there and can expand, and contract, as required, to meet the demand. Despite the failing Arms Trade Treaty and all the other failed schemes, the UN arms control crowd, and our own homegrown local gun phobes are on a never-ending attempt to control global weapons and the civilians whom they have so far failed to disarm.

We must remain united in our goal, and not respond with angry disgust to the winds of politics. We must not become self-destructive or disunified.

We need to hold together to meet the enemies of freedom, as they are coming. United, we succeed. We have strength on our side. We have the achievable goal of peace through strength. We have the dream of the ancient Greek Athenians who understood the benefits of freedom.

Even now, our country is the remaining bastion of civilian power. We are the only symbol of light that our fellow global citizens can cling to on their journey to freedom.

We can marvel at the struggles of the Hong Kong freedom fighters who are resisting heavily armed Chinese ‘would-be’ masters with the symbol of our flag and the words of our National Anthem of freedom.

Gun laws never work as promised to bring about a more peaceful society. Gun laws merely spur the growth of black markets. What was once legal becomes illegal. And that leads to problems for us, in politically expedient, Democrat-sponsored, new laws that soon appear.

Even if our President signs a compromise bill, it will be as nothing to what the Democrats will pass the next cycle, if we weaken the Republican party and help the Democrats win.

We will not cooperate with confiscatory laws, but we will accept creeping criminality before we disarm.

In the past, we have met confiscatory gun laws with civil resistance. We will never compromise with the left and their lies. But we may be forced by them to slide down the slope of criminality.

This scenario need not occur if our President retains control, no matter what happens in DC.

President Trump thinks he can make a deal that will work.

To withdraw support for Trump weakens him. Withholding funds from our gun groups only serves to strengthen the enemy. We need to learn from our lying Democrat enemies. They cling together and attack together, even when they are wrong.

For some strange reason, we do not. We think for ourselves and make our own decisions. But we no longer have that comfortable option.

Trump is usually more right than wrong. We have the power to weaken him to the point where we put the Democrat liars back in control and give them the keys to our Second Amendment rights, just because we can't stand together for our own political advantage.

Now is not the time to overthink tactical possibilities. Now is the time to show unity to a crazed mob of foreigners and local turncoats who see a civilian disarmament victory just around the corner, and who are too tied into their lies and uncontrolled rants to function as patriotic Americans.

So let us watch and await the evils of the DC crowd, and allow us to remain faithful and strong at the ballot box in 2020.

One Dead After Canton OH Resident Shoots Home Invader

Bob Irwin highlights the latest self-defense and other shootings of the week. Read them and see what went wrong, what went right, and what we can learn from self-defense with a gun.

Handgun Gun Barrel
One Dead After Canton OH Resident Shoots Home Invader

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- ABC News 5 Cleveland reported 07-22-19 in Canton, Ohio an early-morning home invasion in the 2600 block of Second Street NW. Police Captain Dave Davis reported the homeowners were awakened by two intruders hitting them with guns. One had a rifle and the other a handgun.

At some point during the attack, the robbers left the bedroom and went downstairs in search of money. By the time they headed back up the stairway, the homeowner had retrieved his own pistol.

One of the individuals discharged three rounds from his rifle before being shot and killed by the homeowner according to court records.

The homeowner told the officers someone had broken into his house a week before. Detectives did not yet know whether the two incidents are related.

Records show the third accomplice, a 28-year-old female returned to the area, picked up her 24-year-old, injured accomplice and drove him to Aultman Hospital. She was arrested at the hospital.

That 28-year-old was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m.

Aultman Police say the female repeatedly lied about her involvement as the get-a-way driver, so she was charged with obstructing justice and complicity to aggravated burglary.

Canton City Prosecutor Jason Reese said even though the woman didn’t pull the trigger, Ohio law allows her to be charged with murder because someone died during the commission of another felony crime, in this case, the burglary.

Stark County court records show the deceased invader had a long criminal history. Police are reviewing private surveillance video from homes in the area.

Anyone with information as to the third robber’s whereabouts are asked call detectives at 330-489-3144

Comments:

Most people visualize challenging an intruder as he enters the bedroom where they are sleeping. The everyday reality is you usually sleep through that part and are actually awakened by the physical assault or rape.

This is why I continually advocate for alarm systems, decent locks, automatic lights, and yappy dogs. Regular news media readers already know that most anti-gun hypocrites keep defense firearms in their homes.

#GUNVOTE: Don’t Risk Your Rights ~ VIDEO

Opinion By Larry Keane

Gun Voter Voter Here
Gun Voter Voter Here

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Our rights as American citizens, like the muscles in our body, require exercise or else they will start to deteriorate over time. When it comes to our right to bear arms, exercising it can be as simple as taking your handgun to the range.

To truly protect our rights, however, we need to have a say in who makes our laws.

When candidates for the most prestigious elected office in our country are proud to say that they want to confiscate the legally purchased firearms that millions of responsible gun owners use recreationally,  to hunt or protect their families, America’s gun owners need to vote to make sure our rights are never infringed upon by opportunist politicians seeking soundbites rather than Real Solutions that make our communities safer.

NSSF Keeps You Informed

That is precisely why the NSSF, as the firearms industry’s trade association, created #GUNVOTE. Once you are registered to vote, #GUNVOTE becomes your one-stop shop for everything an American gun owner needs to know about how to make a difference in our elections. First, it is important to arm oneself with knowledge about the candidates that you will vote for and how those candidates will treat our Second Amendment rights.

For instance, the #GUNVOTE candidate tracker keeps a comprehensive, up to date, and detailed list of every candidate running for president and what those candidates have said that could impact your right to keep and bear arms. Over one year away from the 2020 presidential election, many of the presidential candidates’ platforms already call for ill-informed and extremist positions such as firearm confiscation, bans on popular sporting rifles, federal licensing programs, prohibitive ammunition taxes, and more. With #GUNVOTE, you can easily find out who will protect your rights and who is proposing radical agendas that will do nothing to improve public safety.

Get Informed, Go Vote

Once armed with the facts, #GUNVOTE will help you figure out when and where you can cast your vote. Early voting and absentee voting differs from state to state, but #GUNVOTE conveniently lists out all U.S states with links to their respective Secretary of State’s website where more details about the process can be found. For those who wait until election day to cast their ballot, #GUNVOTE will also tell you your polling place so that exercising your right to vote is as easy as possible.

Ultimately, #GUNVOTE is a tool created to ensure every citizen understands the importance of voting to protect America’s firearms freedoms. At the same time, however, #GUNVOTE is a tool that is only as effective as the people who use it. It is our duty as gun owners to use the information provided by #GUNVOTE to ensure that we bring our friends, family, and ourselves to the polls to protect our rights that, once taken away, we will never be able to truly restore.
