Guns a Public Health Emergency, the Latest Gun Control Lie

Gun control strategies trend like the latest fashion. The gun control lobby will always have a new trend to serve up because they always have new legislation to sell, and those in charge are dependent on your fear. Like any company selling the latest idea, product, or service to the public, those who promote gun control are always hard at work to serve up the latest fear campaign and bolster new gun laws du jour.

Gun control strategies have trended from the “need for red flag laws,” to the “AR15 fear campaign,” to the “dangerousness of so-called high-capacity magazines,” to the “ability to sue gun manufacturers,” to the push for “gun-tracking through ghost gun fear rhetoric,” and on and on. A certain portion of society will buy these causes just like they buy into the latest fashion trends. These social campaigns shape the overall narrative within a topic and guide people in a specific direction. The gun control lobby acts as a marketing firm whose job it is to hype a product so legislators can sell it to the public.

As we saw with the COVID fear campaign, people react to public health emergencies. Recently, the Biden Administration has been attempting to capitalize on the fear of the public with respect to overall public health in the latest anti-gun marketing strategy. They have realized that if they can convince people that guns in America are a threat to public health, they will be able to enact gun control by executive fiat. Anti-constitutional governors, like the one appointed in New York, Kathy Hochul, among others, did exactly that when they needed the power to shut down society and lock people in their homes. Locking up your guns is the latest attempt by the gun control junkies who have been elected and appointed into some of the most powerful positions in America.

Recently, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said, “Firearms are the leading cause of death for children and adolescents.” In support of the false narrative that Joe Biden and other Democrats have recently been pushing, Murthy also called the situation a “public health crisis.”

Currently, Murthy has been working to gain support for this gun control sham by dishing out false data to an easily misled portion of society. Joe Biden had been running with this narrative and, in his deteriorating state of mind, had been showing a particularly angry demeanor when discussing guns in public. Was Biden putting on a show, or had he, too, been misled by the rhetoric and simply followed the Surgeon General’s lead?

The Democrats’ slogan for this latest anti-gun fear campaign is that guns are the leading cause of child death in America. This is false. Here are the facts.

First, and most importantly, the new 39 page surgeon general report does not take into consideration the number of lives potentially saved by defensive gun usage (DGU). In America, anywhere from 1.67 million (Georgetown University study) to 2.5 million (Kleck/Gertz study) defensive gun uses per year stop violent crime. Yet, the gun control activists at the surgeon general are desperate to convince people to ignore these DGU studies. People who can’t think for themselves are conditioned through a manufactured fear of guns to support giving the government the ability to override the Constitution.

The latest narrative claims that guns are taking the lives of 2600 children per year in America. What they don’t tell you is that those studies include people up to the age of 19. The average gang member is aged 17-18, so of course, the gun grabbers would include this age group in their reports. Even with gang members included in the “child death rate,” the numbers still don’t meet the number of people under 18 years of age who are killed in car accidents. That number is 2,443.

In 2019 and 2020, more minors died from suffocation than from gun-related injuries. In 2021, there were 2,443 total vehicle deaths of those under 18, and in 2020, there were only 2,218 deaths from gun-related injuries.

The result is Democrats lying that 2,600 “child gun-related deaths” are the leading cause of death for “children.” While including 19-year-olds, gang members, justifiable homicides (including self-defense), and suicides, they still can’t beat the number of vehicle deaths or suffocation. They are desperate for a narrative, but everything they serve up is based on lies and misinformation for the purpose of justifying executive action on guns because it’s the only way they can beat the 2nd Amendment and control your life.
