Hold My Guns® Calls Out Biden-Harris Administration for Unauthorized Use of Name in Gun Control Initiative

In a stunning and disturbing move, the Biden-Harris Administration’s latest push for gun control has sparked outrage from the pro-gun community, as Hold My Guns®, a well-known, privately funded firearms safety organization, found its name improperly listed as a resource on a government-affiliated website without consent.

The organization, which provides voluntary offsite firearm storage to help gun owners during times of crisis, is firmly against federal overreach into Second Amendment rights. Its founder, Sarah Joy Albrecht, is now demanding the immediate removal of Hold My Guns® from the “Pause to Protect” website, a federally funded project connected to the University of Colorado and the Biden-Harris Administration’s executive orders on gun control.

In a powerful email letter addressed to the organizers of Pause to Protect, Albrecht voiced her frustration at the unauthorized inclusion of her organization.

“I was astonished and blindsided,” she wrote. Albrecht discovered the misuse of Hold My Guns® while reading through the Biden-Harris gun control executive orders, noticing a hyperlink that directed her to Pause to Protect’s website, where Hold My Guns® was named as a resource—without any prior notification or permission.

Albrecht did not hold back in condemning this action, stating: “The inclusion of Hold My Guns® as a named resource, especially without a caveat that we are a privately funded nonprofit, falsely implies that we receive federal funding, are part of the Biden-Harris Executive Orders, and/or are affiliated with and are endorsing Pause to Protect.”

For a fiercely independent organization like Hold My Guns®, such a misrepresentation not only damages its reputation but also threatens to alienate its core supporters & donors—many of whom, like Albrecht, deeply distrust government involvement in Second Amendment issues.

Hold My Guns® has built its foundation on voluntary, private solutions for gun owners, and its mission is crystal clear: to safeguard the privacy and rights of firearm owners without government interference. Albrecht explained, “We are deliberately privately funded and will remain so to protect the privacy and rights of our FFL’s customers as well as our liberty-based values.” The Biden-Harris Administration’s misappropriation of the organization’s name and mission, she said, runs completely contrary to everything Hold My Guns® stands for.

Albrecht’s frustration extends beyond just the unauthorized use of her nonprofit’s name.

She criticized Pause to Protect and its connection to the federal government’s broader agenda, accusing them of stripping her organization’s model of its key values—individual liberty and the preservation of gun rights. She underscored that Hold My Guns® had done “the heavy lifting” in developing a private, voluntary firearms storage solution without relying on government involvement or infringing on the rights of gun owners.

What’s more alarming is the connection of Pause to Protect to groups pushing for increased gun control.

Albrecht pointed out that the University of Colorado, which spearheaded the initiative, is heavily involved in research promoting gun control measures. In her letter, she wrote:

“As a federally funded program, Pause to Protect takes the Hold My Guns® privately funded nonprofit model and strips it of its lifeblood: the preservation of rights and individual liberty. This is a betrayal of the values held by the 393 million firearm owners you claim to serve.”

Albrecht also questioned whether the firearms community truly understood the political motivations behind Pause to Protect, noting that many of its leaders and endorsers have been actively involved in pushing gun control legislation. She raised serious concerns about Dr. Marian Betz, a key figure in Pause to Protect, who has been associated with numerous gun control studies, including those promoting Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs), often referred to as “red flag laws.”

While Albrecht emphasized that she has met Dr. Betz and recognizes her genuine concern for saving lives, their fundamental views on the issue of gun rights remain deeply opposed.

“While she claims to be nonpartisan, she is the primary researcher driving paid political efforts that fuel legislation at both federal and state levels that ultimately criminalize and stigmatize firearm owners,” Albrecht wrote.

In no uncertain terms, Sarah Joy Albrecht made it clear that Hold My Guns® is not aligned with the Biden-Harris Administration, the University of Colorado, or any government-led efforts to control firearms through public health initiatives.

“Let me be absolutely clear: Hold My Guns® is not, and will never be, your ‘credible messenger’ to legitimize increased federal funding or government control over the rights of firearm owners.”

The letter calls for immediate removal of Hold My Guns® from all Pause to Protect materials, and Albrecht concluded by quoting Frederick Douglass: “Find out just what any people will quietly submit to, and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them.” Hold My Guns®, she says, refuses to be quietly complicit in a program that undermines gun owners’ rights.

This episode serves as a wake-up call for the pro-gun community, as it highlights how government overreach can creep into even privately funded, liberty-driven initiatives. Hold My Guns® has always been a beacon of freedom and privacy for gun owners, and this latest move by the Biden-Harris Administration and its allies only solidifies the importance of staying vigilant to protect those values.
