Democrats Offer Anti-Gun Insurrectionist in New York Special Election

A New Yorker FOR ‘Gun Violence’– as long as it’s against Donald Trump and his supporters… (New Yorkers Against Gun Violence/Facebook)

“The political world will be watching Long Island on Feb. 13 when former Rep. Tom Suozzi, a Democrat, and Nassau County Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip, a Republican, compete to replace disgraced former Rep. George Santos in the 3rd Congressional District,” City & State NY reported Monday. “Long Island has bucked national trends in recent years, as Republicans have swept the region since 2021…”

That it’s New York makes it fair to wonder if gun owners have someone to vote for, or at least someone to vote against.

While the man they’re replacing made headlines promoting a bill he co-sponsored to make AR-15s the country’s national gun and for wearing a gun button on his lapel, it’s difficult to separate that from genuine advocacy to attempts to redirect attention from his self-created ethical problems. In any case, that bill has a “2% chance of being enacted,” meaning it won’t be, and Santos was conspicuously silent about the Second Amendment on his campaign website’s “Issues” page, meaning pandering cannot be discounted. In any case, his own claims and conduct make him ineligible for support from gun owners who rely on the truth to refute prohibitionist deceptions.

So what’s the deal with Republican Mazi Melesa Pilip?

We learn from her campaign website that she’s “The daughter of Orthodox Jewish parents, [who] grew up in a rural village in Ethiopia [who] at the age of 12 … immigrated to Israel … and would later enter the Israel Defense Force, serving in the IDF’s elite Paratrooper Brigade… After defending Israel’s freedom and attending college, Mazi immigrated to the United States and settled in Great Neck, New York, located on the North Shore of Nassau County, where she would commit herself to giving back to her community and neighbors.  Mazi was elected as the candidate of the Republican and Conservative parties to the Nassau County Legislature in 2021.”

What we don’t learn from her website is that “public records uncovered by POLITICO show Pilip has enrolled as a Democrat since 2012” or her position on the Second Amendment, which, if it exists, seems remarkably well-hidden.

The closest hint is a photo of Pilip in battle gear with a rifle, which hardly makes her “one of us” and could mean she’s “one of them.” Instead, we see she was “‘handpicked’ by MAGA Republicans [including] Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Matt Gaetz of Florida and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, along with Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana.”

Left unsaid is “Why?” albeit a certain answer is “politics.”

As for Pilip’s Democrat opponent Suozzi?

“He is playing a game of ‘I am a moderate,’” she told Fox News. “He’s not.”

At least she has a gift for understatement.

“A Democratic congressman from Long Island implied that Americans should grab weapons and oppose President Trump by force, if the commander-in-chief doesn’t follow the Constitution,” the New York Post reported in 2018 when Trump was the duly elected president.

“This is where the Second Amendment comes in, quite frankly, because you know, what if the president was to ignore the courts? What would you do? What would we do?”

A listener then blurts out, “What’s the Second Amendment?”

The left-leaning Democrat says, “The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms.”

If the sentiment he expressed to the media were made by a Republican politician against Joe Biden, there would be demands for Secret Service arrest, Congressional investigation, and federal prosecution, not to mention having his name taken off the ballot.

And what’s worse is that while Suozzi showed he perfectly understands the ultimate last resort provision against tyranny behind the Second Amendment, he actively works to undermine it in his quest for power over the lives of his countrymen.

“Suozzi has been a fierce advocate for gun violence prevention since arriving to Congress,” New Yorkers Against Gun Violence crowed in testimonial. “He helped to pass H.R. 8 and H.R. 1112 to support universal background checks and has cosponsored every major piece of gun violence legislation including, Assault Weapons Ban, and Extreme Risk Protection Order (Red Flag) legislation. Suozzi has also been a vocal supporter of providing funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health to study gun violence.”

That’s the guy who wants to take up arms against Donald Trump, and by that, since Trump is an avatar, he means against MAGA. His idea of “gun violence prevention” is to disarm you and start a civil war.

On the other hand, gun owning voters have Pilip, an unknown quantity, and have seen time and again how voting lesser of two evils just means stationing an enemy inside the gates. Her endorsement by former longtime GOP Rep. Peter King is hardly compelling, as the career trough-feeder never saw a gun he didn’t want to grab.

So, basically, gun owners have to eat it and like it by voting for Pilip lest a real enemy be elected…? Here’s a different idea.

Gaetz, Greene and Boebert all represent themselves as 2A champs and depend on activist gun owners as their core constituents. Call on them to explain why Pilip will be the gun owners’ loyal friend, and to press her to define how. And in the meantime, spread the word on the cognitively dissonant  Democrat fraud Suozzi, who endorses armed revolution out of one side of his mouth, and citizen disarmament out of the other.
