Houston, TX – A robbery turned into a shootout at a gas station near the South Loop, leaving multiple suspects and an innocent bystander injured on Thursday night.

Houston police say five suspects aged 15-18 arrived at the Circle K Valero convenience store in the 8000 block of S Loop near Broadway. Four of them entered the building while the other person remained behind the wheel.

The four suspects, who entered the store with face masks on, began demanding customers’ belongings at gunpoint, prompting a 22-year-old customer inside the store to pull out his own firearm and shoot at the suspects. Gunfire was exchanged, and three of the four suspects were hit by bullets, according to HPD.

However, the shootout also injured a 46-year-old bystander who did not have a weapon. The bystander was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. It is unclear whether a suspect or the armed customer shot the bystander.

The police took another person into custody, believed to be the fifth suspect, who was waiting outside. One of the three injured suspects, age 18, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and the other two, ages 15 and 17, are stable.

The gas station employee Nico Lascossio said, “Since I’ve been here, this is the second time the store has been robbed like that. It’s mainly because of the location. It’s horrible but there’s not much we can do about it, aside from having a police officer out here.”

According to HPD’s crime map on their website, 27 crimes have been reported in the past month within a mile radius of the store, including aggravated assault, burglaries, and car theft.

Official charges have not been filed, and it is unclear whether the customer who fired his weapon will face any.

This incident highlights the growing need for law-abiding Americans to have increased ways to defend themselves and protect loved ones. Many people are becoming more concerned about their safety, and gun sales have increased in recent years. The Second Amendment grants the right to bear arms, and some argue that individuals must be able to protect themselves and their families in dangerous situations.

However, others believe stricter gun control laws are necessary to reduce gun violence and keep communities safe. While the debate over gun control continues, incidents like the one at the gas station remind us of the importance of being aware of our surroundings and being prepared to defend ourselves if necessary.

Get trained, Stay heavily armed, and be very dangerous.
