Musk Lawsuit Against Media Matters Also Serves Gun Owner Interests

It's not the "right-wing" trying to disarm American Jews.
It’s not the “right-wing” trying to disarm American Jews.

“The split second court opens on Monday, X Corp will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and ALL those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company,” billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk Xed Saturday. He included a graphic charging the “left-leaning” media nonprofit of undermining free speech and misleading advertisers to attack X’s revenue streams.

Some high-profile “woke” corporations have already been spooked, with IBM, Apple, and Disney pulling advertising after hyperbolic allegations that it was antisemitic for Musk to agree with the statement that “Jewish communities have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them.” And that wasn’t all.

“The media say X is placing Apple, IBM, and other ads near pro-Nazi content, but it’s not. We tried various ways to replicate Media Matters’ research and couldn’t,” author Michael Shellenberger observed. “The real goal of Media Matters isn’t to fight antisemitism. It’s to destroy X as a free speech platform.”

Of course, he’s not an antisemite. Musk had in mind groups like the Antidefamation League (ADL), which have done exactly that in terms of pushing dialectical hatred. And no less a figure in the “gun rights” community than the late Aaron Zelman, founder of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, who angrily declared “ADL, burn in Hell,”  explained how they operate:

“Of course, the ADL’s real objective here is to force a candidate whom they see as their ideological enemy (once again, much more a matter of the eye of the beholder than of any character flaw their enemy may possess) to do a little dance for them whenever they feel like it. They want to push him through the ceremonial meat slicer of renunciation, regret, and remorse that so many others have been pushed through in recent years. The trouble is that, like every other form of blackmail, it never ends. The instant he complies with their demands, he becomes their property, their toy, their organ grinder’s monkey, no longer a threat to the anti-Constitutional establishment they are part of.”

That’s reminiscent of nothing so much as Maoist “struggle sessions.” And ADL and other collectivists exploit fear of being branded with the new scarlet letter, “R” for “racist,” just as Antifa calls anyone who’s not a fellow traveler/Stalinist a “Nazi” or a “fascist,” to shut down any opposing sentiment through the reputation/career-destroying extortion tactic known as “cancel culture.”

That way, they can gaslight the public and cow the media into turning a blind eye to the cultural depredations of outsized manipulating “influencers” with propaganda headlines like “’Dripping with poison of antisemitism’: the demonization of George Soros.” And that way, most will never look at who the real Nazi collaborator was (see embedded video in my WarOnGuns blog post, now only available via the Internet Archive, and that’s intentional to keep it from being seen).

The thing is, ADL and Media Matters have new “enemies” to fight as internecine warfare spreads between radical national socialist “Squad” Democrats and the well-heeled and intent on keeping it that way Democrat establishment. It’s not Musk and it’s not Republicans chanting “From the river to the sea!” with increased numbers and mounting unchecked fury, and if things keep up, the upcoming 2024 Chicago Democrat Convention will make 1968 look like a gathering of flower children and show the ruling class what a real “insurrection” looks like.

The other front they’re seeing pushback on is guns.

American Jews have now seen firsthand what happens when an unarmed population they identify with is attacked by heavily armed invaders who want to kill them, and many are responding rationally—by buying and learning to use guns.

“A growing number of American Jews are taking courses on firearm safety and going to shooting ranges around the country as they fear for their safety following Hamas’ attack on Israel,” the New York Post and other media outlets can’t help but notice. And as they set aside the fear born of ignorance and become familiar with what once horrified them, some are learning, just as some in the black community have learned, it’s not “conservative right-wingers” bent on keeping them defenseless against those who hate them. Rather it’s the hatemongers at the ADL, Media Matters, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the like, and all the secular gun prohibitionist Jews that the irrepressible Zelman nailed as “bagel brained.”

One can only hope the newfound outlook on guns inspires a newfound outlook on political choices, as, per a 2020 Pew Research Center poll, “Seven in ten Jewish adults identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party.” That’s a landslide.

Media Matters is counting on that not changing much because, without political patronage to shelter them, they might actually start to feel the pushback.

After all, it looks like Democrat connections protected founder David Brock from having to answer for his bodyguard reportedly illegally carrying a firearm in Washington D.C. It’s curious how they seem to ignore the very diktats they would have imposed on their countrymen when it’s their precious hindquarters at risk.

That’s not the only disconnect. For a “progressive” who supposedly cares about people more than “conservatives,” the Daily Caller recounted an interesting character study:

Meanwhile, Brock became rigid and harsh with his employees — “viciously mean,” in the words of someone who witnessed it. “He spent a lot of time ripping up researchers. It was abusive. I never understood why more people didn’t quit.” One staffer recalls Brock saying he would like to fire a researcher for being physically repugnant. “David definitely does not like ugly people.”

It makes it fair to ask what kind of self-loathing lickspittles would work for such a man, or for Media Matters President Angelo Carusone, who “wrote of ‘japs,’ ‘jewry’ and ‘trannies’.”

These are the people whose lead IBM, Apple, and Disney are following?

Under the ethical obligation to make full disclosure, I’ve got some personal axes to grind that admittedly color my perceptions of Media Matters. One involved their  “misquoting” Armed American Radio host Mark Walters from a conversation he had with me on his program: Walters had clearly stated he was “lawfully carrying [his] sidearm.” To make him appear a scofflaw, Media Matters transcribed it as “laughing and carrying [his] sidearm.”

This was the second time they’d treated our on-air chats as something to capitalize on, gloating about and extensively quoting our discussion about the self-inflicted problems at NRA. What they don’t understand – or do and pretend not to – is that we who are committed to advancing the right to keep and bear arms do so to weed out the compromisers and make the gun owner community even stronger against the subversions of the violence monopolists.

And these weren’t my first experiences with them.

Media Matters reportedly coordinated spin with Eric Holder’s Department of Justice on stories about ATF’s Operation Fast and Furious “gunwalking” plot that resulted in the deaths of two federal agents and an untold number of Mexican nationals. Curiously, the same DOJ operative feeding Media Matters dismissed a bar complaint against Holder I had made with colleague and co-investigator, the late Mike Vanderboegh, as “specious” and “frivolous.”

So go get ‘em, Mr. Musk. And if you ever find the time and want to learn about how you’re getting closer but still missing the mark on the Second Amendment, I’d love to introduce you to some good and knowledgeable people to help with that. You’re obviously a smart man capable of recognizing the truth, but this is outside your areas of expertise. Let some of us explain our wheelhouse. We’ll be respectful.

In related developments, Rumble Video CEO Chris Pavlovski added his voice to Musk’s and promised “In the coming days, we are going thermonuclear as well. Everyone is about to witness the greatest pushback against the censorship regime.” Additionally, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has opened an “investigation into Media Matters for potential fraudulent activity.”

Got popcorn?
