U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Families of Aurora shooting victims demand studio support gun control over ‘Joker' release,” ABC News “reported” Tuesday. The verb is in quotation marks because the story is really more about giving media attention to those sharing the network’s citizen disarmament agenda.
In this case, those making demands are “five family members of victims” from the Aurora, CO murders at a 2012 midnight screening for the Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises.” The maniac responsible was able to kill unopposed in the “gun-free” Century 16 movie theater. Rather than correct that deficiency, the renamed Century Aurora just won’t show the new film.
Psychiatrists knew the murderer had expressed homicidal thoughts but decided not to take action because a “mental hold might ‘inflame’ him.” He had obtained his guns after passing multiple background checks, something reported on at the time by none other than ABC News, which for reason of its own has decided not to mention that again in its new story.
Contrary to what the media was reporting in the aftermath:
“Investigators heard no witness talking about the Joker, he said. And no police officer claimed [the killer] called himself the Joker.”
The letter to Warner Bros. CEO Anne Sarnoff “asked the company to stop giving political donations to candidates who take money from the NRA, to use its ‘political clout’ in Congress to actively lobby for gun reform, and to donate to survivor funds and gun violence intervention programs.”
As if Hollywood is famous for supporting “conservative” politicians and promoting the right of its patrons to keep and bear arms… For its part, Warner Bros. was quick to point out:
“[O]ur parent company joined other business leaders to call on policymakers to enact bi-partisan legislation to address this epidemic.”
As an aside, Batman has been virulently anti-gun ever since the industry got “woke” and stopped writing comic books for (chronological) kids. Too bad, because when it did, the character started out carrying and using a gun (until a new editorial director ordered creator Bob Kane to get rid of it).
The letter to Sarnoff was “co-written” with an anti-gun zealot who has been trying to make a name for himself over the years (which is why I’m not going to help him publicize it here) and who actually takes the position:
“Legally obtained or not, whether by ‘good guys’ or ‘bad guys,’ guns are the problem. If we’re serious about saving lives, we need to build a bolder, broader movement that finally tackles the problem at its core. We need to go after guns themselves.”
That advocacy piece was co-written with Everytown’s former executive director. So much for the fraudulent protest that no one is talking about taking your guns, they just want some “commonsense safety laws.”
The main face behind the letter, the mother of one of the victims, says “she was inspired to write a letter after seeing the trailer for the upcoming film, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker.” That’s curious because no guns appear in the final trailer. A revolver being cocked appears briefly in a teaser trailer. Whether guns figure prominently in the film itself remains to be seen, but then again, we are talking about an industry where even Alyssa Milano packs when the price is right.
The mother’s main concern?
“My worry is that one person who may be out there — and who knows if it is just one — who is on the edge, who is wanting to be a mass shooter, may be encouraged by this movie.”
Anyone on edge enough to be pushed over it by “Joker” is a walking bomb primed to trigger on anything. To expect society to modify its choices because of the potential for random psychopaths to go nuts is to enable the inmates to run the asylum.
It’s natural for all of us to feel tremendous sympathy for those who have lost loved ones, especially children, to the violent acts of the insane and the evil. I’m sorry these people are suffering. That doesn’t give them a pass to turn their losses into demands on our rights, endangering our lives and those of our children. When they do that they cross a line they have no right to, and any feelings of condolence must take a back seat to the unbreakable resolve to resist them the same as any other gun-grabber.
Because it’s a cinch if their worst nightmare comes true, and all this wholly-manufactured publicity inspires a madman to see “Joker” as his ticket to immortal notoriety, it’s sure not going to be an anti-gunner who stops the freak.
Knowing the evil that citizen disarmament enables, it's not unfair to wonder if some pulling the strings of the useful idiots aren't counting on an attack to keep the momentum going.
