Florida Carry Sues Miami Beach Over Police Action Against Legally Armed Fishermen
Miami Beach, FL – -(AmmoLand.com)- A lawsuit for deprivation of civil rights under color of law and violations of Florida firearms and fishing laws has been filed today against the City of Miami Beach and officers of its police department over an incident where the officers assaulted, battered, and detained law-abiding fishermen at a Florida Carry fishing meetup on the South Pointe Fishing Pier on June 24th 2018. The incident was captured on video (link above).
Dubbed the “South Pointe Six”, six Florida Carry members and supporters were held by police for well over two hours without cause.
While the police officers went on a fishing expedition of the own in an illegal attempt to find something… anything… the officers could use in order to charge the “South Pointe Six” with a crime before finally failing and releasing them.
Even after eventually releasing Florida Carry's members, the Police Department forced the premature end of our First Amendment protected gathering by closing the public fishing pier until all known Florida Carry members and supporters left the area.
“Florida Carry will not allow our members to be abused, injured, held without cause, and have their civil rights violated without the strongest possible response to prevent these types of attacks on the good, law-abiding, citizens of our Great State.” Said Florida Carry Executive Director, Sean Caranna.
“Most police officers and deputies that we encounter are outstanding professionals who have an incredibly tough job to do, we respect that honor that. However, we've seen these types of abuses happen far too many times in cities and counties who do not respect the Right to Bear Arms. Every City and County in Florida should already know that proper training about the legal possession and carry of firearms is necessary. These types of abuses will not be tolerated – IT ENDS HERE.”
The plaintiffs are represented by Florida Carry General Counsel Eric Friday.

Philly Store Owner Shoots, Kills Man Attempting To Rob Him
Bob Irwin highlights the latest self-defense and other shootings of the week. Read them and see what went wrong, what went right and what we can learn from self-defense with a gun.
USA –-(Ammoland.com)- KYW 1060 News radio reports 03-15-19 in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Police say a man is dead after being shot by the owner of the store he was trying to rob in West Philadelphia on Thursday night.
Philadelphia Police say a man in his 20s went into the store, at 54th Street and Wyalusing Avenue, wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun. The store owner was also armed with a gun, and he shot the masked man one time in the stomach.
The would-be robber left the store, and he was found by police in a car nearby. He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment but later died from the gunshot wound.
The store owner was not hurt, and police say they did take two guns from the scene, one which belonged to the attempted robber, the other to the store owner.
Comments:
Convenience stores, head shops, delis, anything open late are at constant threat from armed robbers. Most national chains do not allow their employees to be armed. They worry more about lawsuits then employees’ lives. Independent owners seem to think differently. Defending your family members and their livelihood is way more important than defending establishments owned by others. Hopefully, the store owner has another gun.

Rioting, Coming To A Place Near You
Opinion
Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- Stir not murky waters, when you don’t know the depth, nor creatures that dwell beneath the surface.” ~ Bryan Davis
Last Friday in the City of Maracaibo, Venezuela (Venezuela’s second-largest metro area), during a protracted, nationwide, compulsory power-cut, ecumenical rioting broke out!
The “permanent underclass,” so carefully created and expanded by Maduro’s socialist government (much as Democrats do in this country), predictably spiraled out of control. In Venezuela, government-ordered power-cuts are nothing new, but this one was nationwide and lasted nearly a week, longer in many places.
On day-five, scattered rioting broke-out, and it quickly descended into a generalized crescendo of destruction. Described as, “… an orgy of violence and wanton destruction,” thousands of semi-organized rioters looted and vandalized much of the private-sector infrastructure of the city.
Destruction and theft of private property was widespread, frenzied, thorough, and barbarous.
Supermarkets were stripped of inventory, then destroyed. Office buildings, hotels, businesses, and private residences alike were broken into and ransacked. Everything of value was stolen or ruined, including computers, furniture, televisions, appliances, fixtures, plumbing, cables, fittings. Even carpeting was ripped-up and carried-off.
In the city, food and clean water are currently very scarce.
All this is taking place in an oil-rich nation that once prospered, until socialists took over, and did what socialists always do!
What happened is not just “vandalism.” It’s terrorism, encouraged and facilitated by leftist politicians.
Friday’s destructive rioting in Maracaibo, like brutal and currently out-of-control Islamic “rape-gangs” in the UK, is largely unreported in the liberal Western media because less-than-honest liberals desperately try to pretend it is not happening.
The creation and expansion of a permanent underclass lies at the heart of the socialist mantra.
Far from helping the poor, leftists strive to keep them poor, perpetually unproductive, growing, and constantly stirred-up, so they can be used to “punish” sectors of society that refuse to support the leftist agenda.
What we currently see happening in Maracaibo could easily break-out in any number of rotting American cities.
As with Maracaibo, it won’t be an “accident!”
“We are in the process of creating what deserves to be called ‘The Idiot Culture.’
Not an idiot sub-culture, which every society has bubbling beneath the surface, and which can provide harmless
fun; but the culture itself. For the first time, the weird and the stupid and the coarse are becoming our cultural norm, even our cultural ideal.” ~ Carl Bernstein

The Puppet Masters Behind AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ~ VIDEO
Opinion
This article first appeared on WND News.
USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Freshman U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is a “puppet congresswoman,” and “the people controlling her are very dangerous.”
It sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, acknowledges actor, writer and political commentator, Christopher Patrick Kohls. But the first-hand evidence is there for anyone to see, he contends in a youtube video produced under his Mr. Reagan moniker.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not really the congresswoman of New York’s 14th Congressional District,” he says provocatively as he opens the video. “She is essentially an actress. She’s merely playing the part of a New York congresswoman.”
Kohls explains that in 2017, a progressive group that formed in response to Trump’s election called the Justice Democrats held “auditions” for potential congressional candidates to run on their platform.
As evidence, he runs a clip from a Justice Democrats video.
“Back in 2016, we put out a call for nominations,” says the group’s executive director, Alexandra Rojas. “We got over 10,000 nominations. Out of those 10,000 nominations, we found Alexandria.”
Ocasio-Cortez herself, in another video, says her brother nominated her.
“My brother told me that he had sent my nomination in the summer, but I was, like, literally working out of a restaurant then. And I was like, there’s no way,” she says.
Kohls comments: “A casting call. They had a casting call. They cast Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the role of congresswoman. And they did this so they could promote their own agenda. Justice Democrats, on its website, (https://ift.tt/2FompDg) says it aims to reform the Democratic Party by running “a unified campaign to replace every corporate-backed member of Congress.”
In a feature on the group, the New York Times noted that in 2018, Justice Democrats endorsed 78 candidates and recruited 12 to run for office.
Of those 12, Ocasio-Cortez was the only one who won her general election.
However, six other endorsed candidates won, and among them are two other freshman House members who have joined Ocasio-Cortez in challenging the power of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: Muslim Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
Last week, their power was demonstrated when a House Democratic Party resolution originally intended to reprimand Omar for anti-Semitic remarks was watered down. Before it went to a vote, Omar’s name was omitted, and a long list of other forms of bigotry were added.
Meanwhile, two Justice Democrats tenets, “Medicare for all” and the Green New Deal have become litmus tests for Democratic presidential candidates.
Ocasio-Cortez and her former chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, one of the founders of Justice Democrats, are the targets of a Federal Elections Commission complaint by the National Legal and Policy Center alleging violations of campaign-finance laws.

“Dry Fishing” In Florida? Open Carry Harassment ~ VIDEO
Opinion by Phillip Evans
Florida – -(AmmoLand.com)- Michael Taylor, a fishing enthusiast and a member of Florida Carry, was accosted by police for about the fourth or fifth time, for doing a lawful activity. See the video above.
That activity was peacefully carrying a holstered pistol and slung rifle out in the open while fishing (or going to or from), which is specifically permitted under state law.
State law in facts specifies you may carry your firearms openly in this manner even WITHOUT a license to carry (CWP in Florida), when doing certain activities such as fishing, hunting, target shooting, or camping, or traveling to or from. The traveling part can be on foot, as state law does not make any restrictions on the type of travel.
Apparently guilty until proven innocent is the standard in Florida as the police pressed Michael to prove he was fishing, and tried to intimidate him by claiming his fishing rod was dry. I guess it would be pretty dry if you walk a mile back to your car in the hot Florida sun. Oh, but there was a wet spot on it, but the officer refused to touch it when offered.
Michael had police point guns at him during another open carry fishing incident. One slip of the finger and he could have been DRT (dead right there), for doing nothing but wearing firearms and holding a fishing pole.
Things like this will keep happening until Florida politicians get their heads out of their sink-holes regarding the liberty of open carry. Police are people too, and if they are the only ones permitted by law to carry openly, they can get a little jealous when a citizen takes advantage of a limited provision in the law to do the same.
Open Carry needs to be DECRIMINALIZED wherever one can lawfully carry firearms, regardless of fishing or not. Republicans who refuse to do so are merely lip-servicers of the U.S. Constitution and the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
To keep up with Florida Carry news and events join their Facebook group for free here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FLopencarry/
And call and write your Representative and Senator in the Florida Legislature to demand the free exercise of your rights back.
